Jessica B. Callanan currently serves as the Principal at Reading Memorial High School in Reading, Massachusetts. Before her position in the Reading Public School System, Jess served as the Principal at Woburn (MA) High School for six years, the Assistant Principal at Salem (MA) High School, and the Dean of Students at a Salem Academy Charter School.
Jess hails from a large extended family in Upstate New York and spent the early part of her adulthood as a Cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army. While in the military she completed a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and had the intention of going to work as a foreign service officer or with the United Nations.
Jess brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Reading Public School system. Her military discipline and training help her to effortlessly interact with all of the stakeholders in public education, government and industry.
